Granted this is a poker event... with no publicity, and thrown together by some chumps.

Buy-In:	$1,500
Prize Pool:	$1,051,050
Entrants:	770

If my math does me correct, if everyone paid, or someone paid for, $1,155,000... guess $100k+ got skimmed, isn't that like 10%? Interesting!

You forgot that coin drop is all vendors should expect from a GT tourney. Also, they are obliged to put a percentage of that towards the prize pool so as to pay off bangers.

Never mind the fact that it takes time and materials to set up and take down machines for an event.

Also never mind the fact that said bangers already get negotiated discounts and/or kickbacks as well as pillaging entitlements for Club Lucky contests by virtue of the combination of their skill and game volume. They've practiced lots and forsaken a meaningful existence therefore they are deserving.

they must take a percentage of the buy in, in this case around 10%.

so, a $150 buy in tourney, with 77 players should pay out about 10k in prizes... 1st being about 2500... with the house getting 10% of all entries. I mean if this was like a poker tourney... I mean no one gets into poker tourneys.

Many tourneys hold a percentage for the dealers now. As a dealer, I think that is a good thing. Most tourney poker players are very cheap.

Except, the casino has to pay employees to deal and at a GT tourney, the players have the privilege of paying $5 a game.

Maybe poker players should pay $5 into the pot every time they get the button.

Yeah, those machines just head right on over to a tourney venue and connect and configure themselves after all.

Dank... love ya, but the prize pool is $100k short. I really hope that the WSOP never happens again, as this tourney is all about the people that run it, and not the players.

I hear ya buddy. Seriously though, I don't think 10% off the top is that far off from most tournaments. I can't find the fine print right now, but Harrah's takes ~10% off the top in the WSOP events (Harrah's gets like 6%, dealers 2%, waitresses 2% or something along those lines).

Agreed. I hope I can suck out vs. Haas or Litz on 17 in a tourney to double up my GT score.
